Does your organisation have an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)? EAPs offer staff free short term counselling to address personal issues which can impact on concentration and work performance. The cost to the organisation can be considered an investment in workplace health and employee performance as unresolved personal issues can cause hours of lost productivity and staff absences. EAPs can provide help with interpersonal/relationship conflicts, emotional stress, grief, drug and alcohol related problems and trauma counselling. A brisk stroll on a fine day clears the mind and it certainly will be one of your more memorable meetings!
Organise a lunch time walking group. 30 minutes of fast paced walking instead of a long lunch and you will soon see health benefits of increased cardivascular fitness and weight loss.
Try to support a Quit campaign in your workplace. Smoking is bad for everyone's health. By supporting your co-workers who want to stop smoking sends the right message - Workplace health is everyone's concern!
